{Design Statement} A child-initiative center, Focus, was created for children located in Hokkaido, Japan. The facility is designed to break away from the potentially negative effects of technology. The center includes a wide variety of colors, textures, and materials. The research included Asian culture, technological effects, and independent learning. The design scope is as follows: the reception, an open space, the education center, restrooms, storage, a stage, and an outdoor courtyard. Ultimately, the design goal of this project is meant for the end-clientele to come play, read, learn, and invent ways to have fun without the use of technology.
